The power plant will generate 2.2TWh of electricity per year, enough to power about 450,000 French households.
The facility features a GE 109FB combined-cycle system including a Frame 9FB gas turbine, a high efficiency advanced technology steam turbine and associated generators.
GDF Suez said that the plant’s high energy efficiency rating, close to 58%, contributes to reducing greenhouse gases.
In France, GDF Suez has a total electrical production capacity of over 8,000MW, of which 2,147MW is derived from natural gas.
