Presently, only the CDU is functional at the refinery in the western Indian state of Gujarat and all other secondary units at the plant would be commissioned by May 6, 2009.
The refinery was commissioned in November 2006 and started commercial production in May 2008.
The last full closure of the refinery was in July 2007, when Essar Oil closed it for three weeks to increase capacity to 210,000 bpd and add secondary units.
Our CDU is functioning smoothly, an official said. We started it a day ahead of schedule time. We have revamped it. Earlier we were processing 12.5 million tonnes (250,000 bpd) with difficulty but after the revamp we can go up to 14 million tonnes a year (280,000 bpd).
