The 4000MW Mundra power plant is the first of the UMPPs that heralds the entry of 800MW supercritical eco-friendly boiler technology in India.
The first three units at Mundra UMPP were synchronied March, July, and October 2012.
Commenting on the fourth unit synchronization, Tata Power managing director Anil Sardana said it is a significant milestone with regards to the power shortage situation in India.
"The Mundra power plant is one of the most efficient and environment friendly plant based on super critical technology," Sardana added.
The power generated at Mundra UMPP will be sold to seven distribution licensees from five states viz., Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab.
Tata Power’s thermal power generation capacity stands at 6847MW, while the generation through renewable sources such as hydro, wind and solar stands at 852MW, taking the overall to about 7,700MW.
