In Lambarene province Maurel & Prom plans to create 160 local jobs and to pursue socio-economic development programme for the local populations, as well as drilling of wells for drinking water supply, rehabilitation of schools, health centers and other public facilities.
The Onal oilfield was discovered in 2006 and test operations on the location begun in 2007.
The initial production is reported to be estimated at 15,000 barrels per day to subsequently reach 22,000 barrels per day at the end of the year,” the Director-General of Maurel & Prom, Serge Findji, said.
Another oilfield, Omko, is situated not far from Lambarene.
