Renewable energy company RWE Innogy is constructing the wind farm about 35km to the north-east of the island of Heligoland in the German North Sea region.
Nordsee Ost wind park will feature 48 multi-megawatt wind turbines. Each REpower turbine will have a power of 6.15MW. The turbines will cater to the electricity requirement of 6,000 households.
Palfinger Wind will supply a total of 144 cranes, wherein three cranes will be provided for each turbine in the Nordsee Ost wind park.
The cranes will include the nacelle crane PK 40002 M, the PSM 400 on the platform and an additional SCMT handy crane.
Considered to be one of the largest commercial wind power projects off the German coast, the €1bn Nordsee Ost project is expected to be commissioned in 2014.
