Customers on the company’s social tariff will also continue to receive free energy efficiency advice and practical measures to reduce their energy usage, as well as access to the EDF Energy Trust Fund and a free benefits entitlement check, the company said.
By 2012, EDF Energy is also planning to help educate 2.5 million young people in the UK on the sustainable use of energy. As the first sustainability partner of London Olympics 2012, EDF Energy will support London 2012’s education program and will help schools understand and address their own use of energy, to reduce their climate change impact and reduce their running costs.
Vincent de Rivaz, CEO of EDF Energy, said: The most important thing we can do is take steps to improve the efficiency of our business so as to help keep prices as low as possible. Over and above that we will provide a long-term package of support for our most vulnerable customers.
