Using the smart grid technology, the DMS and its distribution SCADA system improves work processes and crew safety.
Alstom’s outage management system (OMS) is expected to go online at Alabama Power by the end of 2013, completing delivery of the firm’s full integrated distribution management system (IDMS).
The DMS is based on Alstom Grid’s e-terradistribution 3.0 technology, and it will provide distribution grid operators of Alabama Power with enhanced functionality.
Alstom Grid’s Network Management Solutions VP Karim El Naggar said, "The goals and criteria defined by Alabama Power Company at the onset of this project enabled us to develop a new, customer inspired IDMS architecture that tightly integrates the operations of SCADA, DMS and OMS functions into a single user interface with advanced grid optimization applications."
