CPS Energy will begin deploying the Landis+Gyr Gridstream RF technology, including advanced meters and supporting network infrastructure, later this year and plans to complete the work by 2015.
Gridstream RF is a two-way mesh network that provides metering, distribution automation and personal energy management communications.
According to the company, Gridstream will enable utilities to offer consumers an array of new pricing, demand response and energy automation options and provide more information, expanded choices, and simplified management of their energy.
With the new smart grid project, Landis+Gyr is now deploying more than five million smart meters with Texas utilities, including Oncor, AEP- Texas, Austin Energy and CPS Energy.
