The CFB steam generators will be designed to burn coal and petroleum coke while meeting all environmental requirements. Commercial operation of the steam generators is scheduled for second quarter of 2012.
Foster Wheeler will design and supply three 80MWe (gross megawatt electric) CFB steam generators and auxiliary equipment and provide site advisory services for the project. The cogeneration plant is expected to produce 800,000 tons of ethylene a year.
Mark Garvey, CEO of Foster Wheeler Power Group Asia, said: “We are pleased to be awarded this opportunity after Sinopec’s thorough evaluation process. Counting this award, Sinopec has ordered 26 CFB steam generators from Foster Wheeler, clearly confirming their continued confidence in our fuel-flexible and environmentally friendly CFB technology.”
