The company will provide Entergy Texas with a blend of baseload, intermediate and peaking capacity and energy and ancillary products.
The Carville Energy Center is a combined-cycle, cogeneration power plant located in St Gabriel, Louisiana, and commenced commercial operation in June 2003.
Entergy Gulf States Louisiana currently buys the electrical output of the natural gas-fired facility.
Under the new power purchase agreement (PPA), Entergy Texas will buy the facility’s full output at summer-rated conditions, and will sell one-half of the power purchased under this PPA to Entergy Gulf States Louisiana.
The PPA is conditional on regulatory approval by the Louisiana Public Service Commission and on securing satisfactory transmission.
