SNC-Lavalin’s work in the project includes engineering, balance of plant procurement and construction for the natural gas-fired combined-cycle thermal power plant. Work has begun and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
Chugach is securing the purchase of the power island equipment directly from the equipment suppliers for SNC-Lavalin to install and commission with the balance of plant.
Patrick Lamarre, executive vice president of SNC-Lavalin, said: “We will be using GE LM6000-PF proven technology on this project, which will make the plant more fuel-efficient than the existing power plants currently operating in the region.”
