NGC will provide Ibom Power with gas on a best endeavor basis, a reference to present challenges it is facing in meeting demands.
In the past year or two, gas supply via the Alakiri-Obigbo-lkot Abasi pipeline has witnessed a number of closures because of flow station damage and fires in the region of the flowstations and pipelines.
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of NGC, Voka Mukoro stated that the gas situation was steadily enhancing and that NGC would be able to provide Ibom Power with the needed quantities and specification of gas it needs within the very near future.
In September 2008, Ibom Power has obtained the power generation license from the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) clearing the way for commencement of full commercial power generation.
