Rosneft subsidiary RN-Exploration has entered into a shareholders and operating agreement with Statoil Russia for SevKomNeftegaz enterprise, which will develop North –Komsomolskoye onshore field.

The latest deal is an extension to the agreements on the cooperation within the North-Komsomolskoye Field signed by both firms in 2013.

As per terms of the latest agreement, Statoil is planning to purchase 33,33% stake in SevKomNefteg. The deal also enables to approve the principles of the asset management at the development stage.

The companies are executing a pilot project, which includes drilling and testing two wells for high-viscous oil production from the PK1 formation of the North-Komsomolskoye field.

North-Komsomolskoye field development allows Rosneft to involve new reserves of high-viscous oil into production and realize exploration potential of the license block.

Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin said: “The document signed opens an important stage in the long-term cooperation of Rosneft and Statoil.

“Successful completion of pilot project confirms the efficiency of cooperation with the industry’s majors in implementation of technologically complex projects.

“I’m convinced that both companies will use   their experience in the production of high-viscous oil when developing North-Komsomolskoye field.”

North-Komsomolskoye discovery is a non-producing viscous onshore oil field. The companies are carrying out a pilot project to develop solutions for production from a complex reservoir.

With an area of 1368.91km2, North-Komsomolskoye field is situated onshore within the Pur and Nadym municipalities of the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district.
