The wind project is expected to supply clean energy for over 24,000 homes and offset an estimated 223,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.

MCE CEO Dawn Weisz said: “We’re proud to be working with BayWa r.e. to continue to expand California’s wind industry.

“We’re gratified that BayWa r.e. plans to hire locally for construction, helping to support in-state job creation, economic strength, and tackle climate change by transitioning our communities to 100% renewable energy.”

MCE is a not-for-profit, public electricity provider that offers customers the choice of having 50% to 100% of their electricity supplied from clean, renewable sources.

It provides service to nearly 470,000 California customers in Marin County, Napa County, unincorporated Contra Costa County, and the cities of Benicia, Concord, Danville, El Cerrito, Lafayette, Martinez, Moraga, Oakley, Pinole, Pittsburg, Richmond, San Pablo, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek.

With over 1,400 employees working in BayWa r.e. globally, the group has developed and constructed over 2GW capacity of projects and actively provides asset management for over 5GW.

BayWa r.e. acquires, develops, constructs and operates renewable energy projects and is responsible for the groups North American activities in the wind sector.

In January, BayWa r.e. has commissioned the Lacs Medocains solar farm with a total capacity of 41MWp near Bordeaux in France.

The plant has a total capacity of around 41 MWp, enabling it to supply around 20,000 households with green power.

The completion and operation of this project is in line with the French government’s goals to significantly increase renewable energy generation in respect of the environment.
