Pestech executive director and chief executive officer Paul Lim Pay Chuan said that talks on the project is currently on "advanced" stage.
The Malaysian Reserve quoted Chuan as saying, "We will sign a contract agreement with Electricite Du Laos (EDL) to commence building the infrastructure."
Upon completion, the transmission line and power infrastructure will supply about 200MW of power, in addition to the existing 50MW.
This is anticipated to contribute positively to the company’s revenue in 2014 and 2015, Chuan noted.
In September 2012, Pestech and its Laos-based joint venture partner VLV Soumpholphakdy Sole had signed a memorandum of understanding with EDL, to conduct feasibility studies of the 115kV power transmission line from Pakse, Laos to Laos-Thai border.
The project will connect power supply from hydro plants located in Saravanh, a southern province of Laos to Thailand.
The government has set targets of achieving 70% electricity access by 2010 and 90% by 2020.
