The companies are now focused on France’s EUR20bn plan to accelerate the development of offshore wind, wave and tidal energy production.
Atkins managing director for energy Martin Grant said the companies are looking forward to sharing the expertise that they have gained working in the UK wind sector to help successfully deliver infrastructure for the accelerated development of the offshore wind industry in France.
Atkins and Assystem are already jointly exploring engineering and design consultancy contracts in the worldwide nuclear new build sector, and have been partnering on several other major projects including the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor in the south of France.
Services provided by Assystem, with the support of Atkins, include concept and detailed engineering design as well as owner’s engineer services and consortium management.
