In 2006, CNPC and Total have signed a production-sharing agreement for developing the Sulige natural gas field, which comprises of 2,390 square meters in Inner Mongolia.
Total intends to dig around 2,000 wells in the southern area of Sulige in the next 20 to 25 years, and to attain a production of around three billion cubic meters.
Sulige field was discovered in 2000. It has an projected 534 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
