Monitoring of the well is underway in order to confirm the effectiveness of the procedure. The company earlier said that the aim of this procedure is to assist with the strategy to kill and isolate the well.

Depending upon weather conditions, mid-August is the current estimate of the most likely date by which the first relief well will intercept the Macondo well annulus.
BP also said it has paid more than $303m in claim payments till date to more than 40,000 individuals and businesses impacted by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
