The nominally-sized unit will be built at Ninemile Point Steam Electric Station near New Orleans, and is scheduled to begin commercial operation by mid-2015.
Shaw Power Group CEO Clarence Ray said the company has provided a variety of engineering and other services to Entergy for nearly 40 years.
"This new award, along with the two gas plants the company currently is building and one it recently has completed in the US," Ray said.
Shaw also is building two CCGT gas plants in North Carolina and recently completed a CCGT plant in Nevada.
Shaw is a provider of engineering, construction, technology, fabrication, remediation and support services for clients in the energy, chemicals, environmental, infrastructure and emergency response industries.
