The company is evaluating several potential sites in the Southeast and Gulf Coast regions of the US for the new facility.
Safety-Kleen CEO and president Robert Craycraft said acceptance of the company’s re-refined products, particularly EcoPower, is well-established and growing among corporate fleets, consumers, and government agencies.
EcoPower is premium-quality re-refined motor oil and is certified to meet or exceed the quality standards set by the American Petroleum Institute and the Society of Automotive Engineers, the company said.
Safety-Kleen started producing high-quality re-refined oil products in 1988, and has steadily increased its processing capacity to about 145 million gallons of used oil feedstock per year.
According to the company, its two existing re-refineries, in Breslau, Ontario (Canada) and East Chicago, Indiana (US), have already processed more than 2.5 billion gallons of used oil into high-quality lubricants and byproducts.
The Breslau plant is currently undergoing a ten-million gallon per year capacity expansion.
The new US facility will increase the company’s overall re-refining capacity to about 200 million gallons of used oil feedstock annually.
