The recommendation take the company one step closer for the development of the solar project that consists of four 242MW plants.
Solar Millennium has already secured the California Public Utilities Commission’s approval for its 20 years power purchase agreement with Southern California Edison (SCE) for two of these 242MW solar power plants planned in Blythe, California.
These plants would use dry-cooled technology that is claimed to consume 90% less water than previous plant designs for mirror washing, feed water and onsite domestic use.
The licensing recommendation is expected to help California reach its renewable energy goals, which require electricity providers to increase the use of renewable energy to 20% this year and up to 33% by 2020.
