The commercial solar facility will be built on about 750 acres of reclaimed land once mined for coal in Noble County.
Construction of the plant is expected to begin in 2012, and the facility’s construction and commercial operation will be phased in over three years.
Spanish solar energy technology company Isofoton will supply modules for the power project, which will be equipped with approximately 250,000 photovoltaic panels.
Once built, AEP Ohio will be solely responsible for the operation and maintenance of the facility, and the company plans to invest about $20m in the development of the project.
