Under the terms of the settlement, an average residential customer using 72ccf of natural gas per month will pay $87.14, an increase of $2.19 or 2.58%, and the new base rates will go into effect October 1, 2010.

Commercial customers using an average of 435ccf per month will now pay $414.06 per month, an increase of $6.63, and industrial customers using an average of 5,000ccf per month will now pay $4,390.10 per month, an increase of $74.48.

The new rates are expected to provide the company with the opportunity to earn an additional $12m in annual revenues.

Columbia Gas will also offer a series of rebates to customers enrolled in its Income Qualified Energy Efficiency Program.
