The new product called the Demand Response 2.0 will manage traditional load shedding, while also enabling load shaping, an ability to adjust in real-time the dynamic nature of utility pricing and the resulting customer response by providing visibility into utility customers’ energy operations.
This attribute of the new DR product, can be utilized by utilities and their customers to create a virtual power plant of dispatchable load that can be used to manage high peak electricity demand periods and fill any gaps in renewable energy portfolios.
The agreement, which will have Verisae providing the utility and customer-facing demand response services, will require Schneider Electric to market and manage the offer on behalf of its utility and end-user customers.
Schneider Electric vice president of smart grid programs James Anderson said that the company is pleased to partner with Verisae to develop this unique demand response offering.
“This joint solution allows us to fully integrate end-user customers into the demand response equation, leading to increased benefits for companies seeking to manage their individual energy programs,” Anderson said.
