CEC has contracted pole inspection crew, Osmose Utilities Services, for the work, reported Trib Live News.

In March 2013, the company examined in excess of 800 poles on circuits out of the Cowansville substation to provide reliable electricity.

Under the contract, Osmose will perform examinations on the poles, including a visual inspection, sounding of the pole with a hammer and excavation of up to 18in around the base of the pole.

The poles that have been identified with problems will be inspected later either by Osmose or CEC.

Inspection work on poles is expected to be carried out for several months.
