According to the company, this project will allow several wind farms with a proposed capacity of more than 1,200MW to connect to the electricity grid.
AltaLink has also secured approval to upgrade and expand a transmission system in the Yellowhead region, west of Edmonton, Alberta.
The transmission system, which will be upgraded to address reliability concerns, includes the Hinton, Edson and Drayton Valley areas.
AltaLink president and CEO Scott Thon said that the company’s main priority is to provide Albertans with an electrical grid that can keep pace with the province’s growing demand for electricity.
