Under the renewed contract, Amec will provide operations, maintenance and project support for the FPS.

The Forties Pipeline System has a delivering capacity of over 750,000 barrels per day and supplies about 40% of the UK’s oil production.

Value of the contract will be between GBP10m and GBP15m per year depending on activity levels.

AMEC Asset Management business managing director Mike Horgan said the company has been supporting the FPS project since the last 16 years.

"We are pleased to be continuing our long term relationship with BP and supporting them to meet the needs of the Central North Sea’s oil and gas development," Horgan added.

As per the agreement, Amec will run, maintain, and enhance the year-around and 24 hour operation of the Unity offshore platform and four onshore pumping stations, which form a major part of the FPS.

The project is scheduled to run through December 2014.
