Hoku Sola will design and install the PV project which will employ 4,200 solar panels atop a concrete racking system.

The project is expected to be operational by the end of this year, subject to regulatory approval.

Hoku Sola will deploy PV panels directly on the surface, allowing bright fields to operate on sites not suitable for most of other forms of development.

Hawaiian Electric energy resources vice president Scott Seu said Kapolei Sustainable Energy Park joins two other utility-scale solar projects with power purchase agreements, with more in the pipeline.
