The mineralization was identified during the exploration program that was aimed at securing proof of concept by spotting potential economic concentrations of graphite on both the Balama and Ancuabe prospects.
The mineralization is said to have extended in an easterly direction towards the Ancuabe mine and into license application 5934. The company is keen on undertaking further operations at the target during next phase of exploration program to test the depth of the cover.
In the next stage of the exploration program the company plans to include further mapping, sampling, trenching and drill-testing of the identified targets.
Triton, meanwhile, has sent the mineralization samples to SGS Laboratories in South Africa to test the quality, size and grade of the graphite. It expects to receive the test results within two months. The company has also recorded graphitic outcropping at its Balama project that validates its potential to host large scale graphite deposits.
Triton managing director Brad Boyle noted that the initial exploration results demonstrate existence of graphite at both Balama and Ancuabe.
"The outcropping zones in Balama and Ancuabe now provides the Company clear and large drilling targets. These areas will be refined through the trenching program in order to understand size and direction of these mineralisation zones," added Boyle.
In addition, Triton has stated that the approval process for License 5966 is in the final stages for which it is liaising with Mozambique Mines Department.
