The company has entered into an agreement to acquire 18 acre land near the town of La Colorada to construct the plant.
The facility would be used for stockpiling, crushing, screening, sizing and drying the graphite catering to the requirements of customers besides shipping the plant output in bags or bulk containers, the company added.
Further, it has also purchased necessary equipment for the processing facility with some machinery such as Cat loader, a generator, a water trailer, a stationary screen, and air compressor already delivered at the site.
Big North has begun the clearing and grading operations at the site, 30 kilometers north of the Company’s Nuevo San Pedro project and it expects to complete the initial work by early May 2013.
Commenting on the developments, Big North president Spiro Kletas stated: "We are excited with the progress at Nuevo San Pedro and the construction of our graphite processing facility brings us that much closer to our goal of becoming one of the first junior graphite companies to supply the graphite market."
Meanwhile, the company has recently purchased 100 tons of amorphous graphite in an unprocessed form from two local miners to supplement potential production from the Nuevo San Pedro project.
