Petrofac (Malaysia PM304), the operator for Block PM304, carried out the drilling along with other partners PETRONAS, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, and PetroVietnam Exploration Production.
The Cendor Graben-2 well, which was drilled to a depth of over 1,000m, confirmed the presence of oil and gas-bearing reservoirs.
Regarded initially as marginal discovery with estimated recoverable resources of 12 million barrels (MMstb) of oil, Cendor field was first discovered by Amerada Hess in 2001.
Petrofac bought Amerada Hess’ interest and assumed operatorship of Block PM304 in May 2004.
Developed using leased Mobile Operating Production Unit (MOPU), which was also the first application of MOPU in Malaysia; the Cendor field commenced first oil production in September 2006.
