The two pipeline consortia namely Nabucco Gas Pipeline International and Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) have placed transportation bids to deliver gas produced from the Shah Deniz field in Azerbaijan to Europe.
Nabucco Gas Pipeline International and TAP are offering to deliver 10 billion cubic metres of gas a year (BCMA) to different markets in Central and Southern Europe.
The Shah Deniz consortium is currently finalizing its assessment of the offers.
Shah Deniz gas field is located 70km offshore in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, while the stage 2 of the project will produce gas from the sea and supply it to the markets in Turkey and Europe, thereby opening up the Southern Gas Corridor.
Shah Deniz Stage 2 is expected to add a further 16BCMA of gas production to about 9BCMA from Shah Deniz Stage 1.
