In addition, a total of 23 workers were reported still trapped at the site located in Indonesia.
Freeport Indonesia president director Rozik Soetjipto was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that the rescuers were continuously working to save the miners trapped at the mine at the earliest.
Grasberg mine located in Papua province includes underground and open-pit operations.
Soetjipto added that the incident has not affected its operations claiming to have enough stockpiled material to supply shipments for about two days.
Meanwhile, Freeport has suspended the discussions for the 2013-2015 Collective Labor Agreement in the wake of the accident. The company and its labor union had started contract negotiations on 13 May.
