Restoration work on the Battersea Power Station in London has been scheduled to start in October 2013, at a cost of GBP100m.
Battersea Power Station Development Company said the amount will be spent for repair works, which will lead to the renovation of the exterior of the power Station building.
The first phase of the work involves repairs to the external brickwork, wash towers, the steel frame, windows and the replacement of the four chimneys.
The company is in the process of finalising the detailed design of the interior of the power station, based on architect Rafael Vinoly’s masterplan for the site.
The restoration work will be carried out in conjunction with English Heritage and London Borough of Wandsworth, working to the original architectural plans used at the time of their construction more than eighty years ago.
Buro Happold and Purcell will provide structural engineering and façade repairs advice for the site, while Wilkinson Eyre Architects will complete the detailed design.
