HDR, an employee-owned architectural, engineering and consulting firm, has acquired Portland, Maine-based Devine Tarbell & Associates, Inc.

DTA has nine offices in North America and employs 260 people, providing hydro power and related renewable energy consulting services to utility, industry and government clients. It will now conduct business as HDR | DTA.

“DTA will lead our hydro power efforts, be a valuable asset for growing our presence in Canada and complement our renewable energy practice in the areas of wind, biomass, waste-to-energy, solar and energy management,” said George Little, President, HDR Engineering, Inc.

“We will be able to leverage HDR’s broader, complementary resources, allowing us to support our clients’ entire generation portfolios,” added John Devine, DTA President. “Together with HDR’s power delivery capabilities, our clients will benefit from the full spectrum of renewable energy solutions.”

Under the new corporate structure, Devine, along with principals John Tarbell, Rick Miller, James Lynch and Ed Luttrell, will be senior vice presidents.
