Norway-based oilfield products, systems and services provider Aker Solutions has inked an agreement worth $15m with Murphy Sarawak Oil to supply 24 sets of splitter wellhead systems.

Under the three year contract, which can be extended by a year, Aker will deliver ancillary equipment and services.

Murphy will use the equipment for the drilling of Block SK 309/311 located offshore of Sarawak in East Malaysia.

Aker Solutions Asia subsea operations head Dave Hutchinson said the company has secured its first major surface wellhead contract in Malaysia.

"We look forward to developing our relationship with Murphy in South East Asia, where we have worked together for several years," Hutchinson added.

Aker Solutions’ splitter wellhead system helps drill two or more wells from a single well slot on a platform and reduces the number of well slots needed by at least 50% and requires less deck space.
