For the first half of 2013, the company posted a net income of $28.8m, against a loss of $11.8m in the corresponding period of 2012.
Lucara reported revenues of $47.2m in the second quarter of 2013, and $79.7m in the first half of the year.
During the quarter, the company concluded its first large and exceptional stone tender, in addition to two regular tenders recording gross proceeds of $49.3m. Full year to date proceeds are $81.8m.
The company continued to recover several significant gem quality diamonds from its run of mine production, and is planning its second stone tender in September 2013, which will feature 16 single diamond lots, including five diamonds larger than 100 carats and one small pink diamond.
Lucara Diamond president and chief executive officer William Lamb said that the company had sales proceeds in excess of $80m and over 230 thousand carats sold in the first half.
"Following the first large and exceptional stone sale, the Karowe mine has continued to produce a high proportion of large stones and a second exceptional stone sale will be held in September featuring 16 diamonds, including a pink stone and five stones which are over 100 carats each.
"The proceeds from this sale are expected to further strengthen the Company’s overall cash position," Lamb added.
