Drilling will commence at the Koba1 well as the rig arrives at the site in mid-October 2013 after mobilization from Hassi Messaoud in Algeria.
The Koba prospect is a four-way dip closure, which targets Lower Jurassic and Triassic sandstones.
Longreach said the recently acquired seismic survey and geological studies have further de-risked the prospect, which was initially backed by extensive geological and geophysical studies.
The company operates the Sidi Moktar license area with 50% working interest.
Longreach CEO Andrew Benitz said, "Drilling Koba will enable Longreach to test the new play concepts evidenced by Longreach’s extensive geophysical, geological and petrophysical studies conducted over the previous several years in the Essaouira Basin."
