The latest find confirms the potential of its Muriú area, where excellent quality reservoirs with a 67m thickness were announced on 5 December 2012.
Petrobras-owned BM-SEAL-10 concession area, which comprises two blocks SEAL-M-347 and SEAL-M-424, is located in the ultra-deepwater Sergipe basin.
A 24m pay zone was identified while drilling Muriú 1 to a water depth of 2,432m. Drilling was completed at a final depth of 5,627m.
The well is located 83km from Aracaju city and some 4.4km from the discovery well.
A formation test will be carried out at Muriú 1 to assess productivity of the reservoir.
The accumulation falls within the scope of the Sergipe-Alagoas basin deepwater development plan, in accordance with the company’s 2013-17 business and management plan.
The company will continue with its discovery evaluation plan, which is awaiting approval from the Brazilian Regulatory Agency, ANP.
