A joint venture between AEL and Rajasthan Renewable Energy will be set up with an aim to set up the solar park, which includes generation projects and a manufacturing unit for solar module, parts and equipment, with an investment of INR400bn ($6.4bn), reports Press Trust of India.

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said: "India has embarked upon an ambitious program of becoming a world leader in renewable power generation, with a special focus on solar.

"The development of Solar Park facility is our contribution towards realization of our Honorable Prime Minister’s campaign and commitment towards clean and green energy in India.

The solar park is expected to generate approximately 16,644 million units of clean and green energy, while reducing carbon emissions by about 16.2 MT.

The Indian government has issued guidelines for at least 25 solar parks, each with a capacity of at least 500MW, as part of its plan to develop a total of 100,000MW of solar capacity by 2022.

AEL and SunEdison recently signed an MoU to jointly develop integrated solar photovoltaic making plant in Mundra, Gujarat, a state in India, with an investment of $4bn.
