The Kingia and High Cliff Sandstone intervals in the Waitsia gas field, upon completion of the drilling operations at Senecio-3 in September 2014, were estimated to have gross Contingent Resources in the range from 65 billion cubic feet (Bcf) to 1,170 Bcf, with the best estimate (2C) of 290 Bcf.
In addition to collecting samples for compositional analysis, the testing is expected to verify well deliverability from two conventional reservoir zones.
The company claimed that the first zone being flow tested is the secondary target in the deeper High Cliff Sandstone, where a 5m interval (3,254m-3,259m) has been perforated and well clean-up operations are in progress.
The High Cliff Sandstone is expected to set a plug to isolate the lower interval, following completion of testing, and prior to starting primary target testing in the upper Kingia Sandstone.
The company is planning to carry out a similar well test program on a 10m interval (3,173m-3,183m) in the Kingia Sandstone.
The testing program is planned to be completed by mid-April while the flow testing results will be announced by the company following testing on each of the zones has been completed.
Additional Waitsia field appraisal is expected in late May with the Waitsia-1 well drilling 3km to the east of Senecio-3 in L1/L2.
