To be built in Pachpadra, Barmer, the Rs372bn ($5.98bn) refinery and petrochemicals complex will have a manufacturing capacity of nine million tonnes per annum.
The complex, which is due to become operational in four years, is anticipated to receive most of its crude supplies from Cairn India’s oil fields in the state.
Hindustan Petroleum will hold a 74% stake in the project, while the Rajasthan state government will own the remaining 26% interest.
In July 2013, Hindustan Petroleum and Rajasthan state government had entered into a joint venture agreement to construct the refinery and petrochemical complex at Barmer.
Hindustan Petroleum is engaged in the oil and gas exploration and production activities, refining of crude oil and marketing of petroleum products.
