Ibrahim was quoted by Bernama as saying on the sidelines of the third Annual Asian Sub-Bituminous Coal User Group (ASBCUG) Conference that the construction will start shortly and will complete within the next four years.
"The two projects in Manjung are mainly for domestic usage and are expected to be completed in 2017," Ibrahim added.
Ibrahim also noted that the country on an average has daily power consumption of 15,000 to 16,000MW, with the figure expected to increase by 5% annually.
The company generates 50% of power from natural gas, 35-40% from coal-fired power plants, and remainder from renewable energy, according to the vice president.
