The new 11,000m² facility will be used to assemble ABB’s low-voltage products, including the integrated breaker and power manager Emax2.
The range includes other breakers, switches; power distribution systems; modular enclosure and DIN rail products; and control products including the company’s new soft starter system.
The manufacturing facility will initially create around 200 jobs and a 100 more will be added over the next five years, the company said.
ABB Low Voltage Products division president Tarak Mehta: "As part of ABB’s Next Level strategy, we are expanding our offering of low-voltage products in the United States. This will allow us to provide the full ABB portfolio of products to our customers across the US, through the strong distributor network of Thomas & Betts.
"This investment will boost ABB’s organic growth potential through improved customer focus and a broader portfolio of electrical connection, protection and control products."
The investment is also being used to expand the company’s customer experience center at the location by upgrading its training suite to accommodate the product portfolio requirements.
The investment follows a $14m project to expand a Measurement Products business unit in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
