The equipment delivered under the €20m contract will be installed in the substations owned by the Polish grid operator, PSE, to help enhance grid reliability and safety in the country.
Alstom Grid Poland director Michal Golasz said the Byczyna substation will be one of the largest on the European market and will provide the most modern availability features in technological terms.
”The Alstom solution includes additional isolating devices and partitioning which increase availability and maintainability to the highest level of the market,” Golasz added.
The Byczyna substation will feature 20 circuit breaker bays, while Skawina substation will be integrated with nine T155 circuit breaker bays, which are 40% smaller in size than the previous version, and also reduces erection time by 30%.
The commissioning of the Byczyna and the Skawina substations are scheduled for autumn 2015 and autumn 2016, respectively.
