The first agreement covers EquiPower’s Milford combined cycle power station in Connecticut, while the second includes TransAlta’s Sarnia Cogeneration Power Plant in Ontario, Canada, and Poplar Creek Cogeneration Power Plant in Alberta, US.
Both contracts covers parts replacement, reconditioning services, outage management, labor and on-site support staff, as well as optional gas turbine modernization to increase performance and reduce maintenance costs by extending time between inspections.
Both TransAlta plants uses Alstom GT11N2 gas turbines while EquiPower operates the GT24 turbines.
Alstom Thermal Services business senior vice president Michael Rechsteiner said the contracts demonstrates the importance of shaping services to address the individual requirement of the customers.
”That starts with identifying operating challenges at each facility and determining how best to prepare them for future power generation market dynamics,” Rechsteiner added.
”Abundant, unconventional natural gas is reshaping the energy landscape. It is evident that LTSA’s are helping operators maintain competitive advantage in this changing market.”
Work under the agreements is scheduled to be collaboratively managed by Alstom’s teams in Richmond in Virginia, Jupiter in Florida, Calgary in Canada and Baden in Switzerland.
