The project was carried out in collaboration with Sakhalin Energy under the ‘Far East and Trans-Baikal Economic and Social Development for the Period until 2013’ Federal Target Program and ‘Electrical Power Industry Development for the Period until 2010 and Long-Term Development until 2020’ Regional Target Program.
Installed by SK Energostroy, each gas turbine unit produces 46.4MWt, and are scheduled to be used with waste heat recovery boilers in power generation train No. 4 to increase electrical power and heat output for Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

The Power Generation Train No. 4 commissioning takes GE equipment’s total power output in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk CPP-1 to 230.2 Mwt, enabling increment in the island’s power grid reserve, and removal of multiple worn power generating units from service.
GE had ALSO supplied two LM6000 PD Sprint gas turbine units with 91.2MWt of total output for Power Generation Train No. 5 of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk CPP-1, which was commissioned in August 2012.
