The sale Rio de Janeiro-based CCX Carvao da Colombia is developing Cañaverales and Papayal open pit mining projects and an underground mining project in San Juan, La Guajira department.

Last year, CCX agreed to sell its mining projects to Yildirim Holding for $125m.

However, the company has received request for arbitration from Yildirim Holding earlier this month after conditions of the previous agreement were not met.

CCX was quoted by Reuters as saying in a filing that Blackstone’s offer is economically more interesting.

The company’s board of directors will soon discuss terms of the Blackstone’s offer, the company said.

CCX earlier said that Canaverales and Papayal open-pit mines host 27.3 million tons and 15.6 million tons of coal reserves, respectively. San Juan had 671.8 million tons of certified reserves, railway and port infrastructure.

The Canaverales mine has 27.3 million tonnes of certified coal reserves, while Papayal has 15.6 million tonnes and San Juan has 671.8 million tonnes of certified coal reserves

Established in 2012, CCX is the spin-off company formed from MPX Energia after the latter’s agreement with German firm E.ON.
