The 10 holes have been drilled to a maximum depth of 130m at one of the four project areas for which Pangolin has exploration licenses in the country.
Pangolin Diamonds has delivered samples of drill chips to an independent laboratory for the recovery of any possible indicator garnets and diamonds and the results will help with the next phase of drilling.
The targets, which are significantly larger than Petra Diamonds’ KX36 kimberlite, have yielded similar concentrations of indicator garnets from soil samples.
Initial drilling of the Malatswae project aimed to obtain a better understanding of the area’s geology as well as to test a number of geophysical targets of diverse magnetic character.
Pangolin chairman Leon Daniels said "Their chemistry strongly suggests that there is an undiscovered kimberlite source within the Project area and we intend to make the discovery."
Located 70km southeast of the Orapa Mine, the Malatswae Kimberlite project comprises kimberlite targets and covers 400km².
