Designed for a rated voltage of 145kV, the latest GIS featuring eco-efficient design reduces SF6 insulating gas by up to 60% and the weight by 13% when compared to its predecessor, besides enabling ease of installation and facilitating space and cost-optimization.
The new GIS’s convenient frontal access allows easier operation and improved serviceability, while its small, horizontal three-phase enclosure with single-phase insulators facilitates overall accessibility.
Designed and developed in collaboration between the global GIS technology experts and the China GIS competence center, the system, which can handle a rated current of up to 3,150A, can provide protection to power networks with rated short-circuit currents up to 40kA.
The company claims that the new product is in line with its ‘in country for country’ approach. Switchgears are used to control, protect and isolate electrical equipment thereby enhancing the reliability of electrical supply in the power system.
ABB High Voltage business head Giandomenico Rivetti said that the latest system is designed for easier installation, operation and service while ensuring reliability.
"This eco-efficient GIS brings significant savings in space, weight and SF6 insulating gas making it environmental friendly and ideal for applications where space is limited," Rivetti added.
